Concrete is porous enough that moisture vapor passes straight through it, even with no visible cracks or standing water anywhere in sight — a proper vapor barrier stops that transmission at the source.

Four commitments that separate a properly trained vapor barrier installation crew from a generalist showing up with a truck and a hope.
Training covers both crawl space floor applications and basement wall dimple-board systems, which require different techniques.
We prioritize homes reporting visible mold linked to suspected vapor issues.
Seam sealing and pier wrapping, where applicable, are included in the itemized quote rather than charged separately.
We install 10-20 mil reinforced polyethylene for floor applications, thick enough to resist puncture from foot traffic.
We don't run a one-size-fits-all playbook — every vapor barrier installation job starts from these core service components, adapted to what your property actually needs.
Barrier is run up piers and foundation walls, not just laid flat, since ground moisture can wick up unsealed vertical surfaces just as easily.
Dimple-board membrane creates an air gap against the foundation wall, allowing incidental moisture to drain down to a collection point instead of wicking into finished wall assemblies.
We heat-tape or mechanically seal every seam and use proper termination strips at wall transitions, following manufacturer spec exactly.
Support piers in a crawl space are common weak points where ground moisture bypasses an otherwise well-installed floor barrier.
Where vents are being sealed as part of a full encapsulation approach, we install rigid vent covers integrated with the barrier's edge termination.
Here's the exact path from your call to a finished barrier installation.
Describe what's prompting the call — musty odor, visible condensation, a humidity reading you've taken yourself — and dispatch routes an appropriately equipped crew.
Arrival includes a walkthrough to measure square footage and identify piers, vents, or wall penetrations needing special detailing.
We measure the full space and take baseline humidity readings to establish what improvement to expect post-installation.
Installation is inspected for complete coverage and properly sealed seams before the crew considers the job finished.
